Williamsburg Estate Planning Attorney Jared A. Kartchner
My name is Jared A. Kartchner, and if you have questions about estate planning, business succession planning, or asset protection in Virginia, you’ve come to the right place. I designed this site to provide you with information on these topics to educate you and to help you make an informed decision in your search for quality legal services. I hope you find it useful. I’m glad you decided to visit, and I would welcome the opportunity to assist you with your legal needs.
I’ve limited my practice to these overlapping areas of the law for a simple reason: they center around life’s biggest transitions for most people, and if we work together to organize your affairs now, I can save you and those who are important to you a lot of time, money, and hassle down the road.
You’re most likely familiar to some degree with the tools attorneys use for these purposes: Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Irrevocable Trusts, Testamentary Trusts, Special Needs Trusts, General Powers of Attorney, Medical Directives, Incorporation/Organization of Business Entities (C Corporations, S Corporations, Limited Liability Companies (LLC), Limited Partnerships), Buy/Sell Agreements, etc. What I hope to do with this website is give you an understanding, in plain English, of what these different tools can do and how they might help you organize your future. The one thing you need to remember is that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Each situation is different, and different levels of simplicity or complexity will apply according to the different facts.
I’m based in Williamsburg, but travel throughout Virginia’s northern Hampton Roads region to meet with my clients at their convenience wherever they work or reside, including in the cities of Williamsburg, Yorktown, Newport News, Poquoson, and Hampton; and the counties of Gloucester, York, James City, Isle of Wight, Surry, Charles City, and New Kent.
